Convenient location for Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Limited food options nearby. Random WiFi and reception. Comfy bed, nice kitchen/lounge. Clean facilities, old but comfortable. Community kitchen available. Good bar/restaurant. Warm welcome, great service. Cozy lounge with fire and games room. Relaxing spa after snow. Beautiful mountain view. Polite owners, helpful. Highly recommended.

Stayed at Pipers with my boyfriend for a skiing weekend. We were upgraded to an ensuite room as a birthday present. Diane, the owner, was fantastic and even went out of her way to help us with an iron and cream for my injury. Rented skiing gear from them which was great quality. The room had a cozy wooden lodge feel and the location was perfect for us, about a 20 min drive to Whakapapa. Would definitely stay here again.

    Would definitely recommend this hotel.

the staff was friendly and always ready to help, and the lodge offered great value for money. I enjoyed the free hot beverages and the clean shared toilets and bathrooms. the 4 bunkbed dorm I stayed in was comfortable and the central heating kept us warm at night. the spa pool was a fantastic way to relax after a long day of driving, and the shared kitchen was well-equipped. I highly recommend Pipers Lodge for a cozy and enjoyable stay. Cons: Can honestly say there wasn't anything not to like 😊.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to make us feel welcomed and answer any questions we had. They had great local knowledge and were able to recommend some fantastic restaurants and cafes around the area. the facilities were also excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen that had everything we needed, and the rooms were warm and comfortable with comfy mattresses and heaters. the bar and lounge area had a cozy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day of activities.

One thing we didn't like was that the timber deck outside our room was quite noisy, with people walking up and down late into the night. It would be helpful if they added rubber matting or something similar to minimize the noise.

I arrived early at Pipers Lodge and was warmly greeted by the owner, who personally showed me to my room. The room was cozy and comfortable, with extra blankets and a hot shower to soothe my tired muscles after a long day of hiking. The communal areas were great, with a full bar, games room, and plenty of tea and coffee available all day. The highlight for me was the spa tubs, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The lodge also had a fully equipped kitchen, which was convenient for preparing meals. I had a fantastic stay at Pipers Lodge and would highly recommend it.

Had a fantastic time at this hotel! The retro ski lodge vibes were just like in the movies. The hot tubs were amazing, especially with their convenient operating hours. Our room was clean and spacious, with plenty of natural light. The owner was super friendly and accommodating. The complimentary tea and coffee were a nice touch.
