Stayed at Pipers with my boyfriend for a skiing weekend. We were upgraded to an ensuite room as a birthday present. Diane, the owner, was fantastic and even went out of her way to help us with an iron and cream for my injury. Rented skiing gear from them which was great quality. The room had a cozy wooden lodge feel and the location was perfect for us, about a 20 min drive to Whakapapa. Would definitely stay here again.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to make us feel welcomed and answer any questions we had. They had great local knowledge and were able to recommend some fantastic restaurants and cafes around the area. the facilities were also excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen that had everything we needed, and the rooms were warm and comfortable with comfy mattresses and heaters. the bar and lounge area had a cozy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day of activities.
One thing we didn't like was that the timber deck outside our room was quite noisy, with people walking up and down late into the night. It would be helpful if they added rubber matting or something similar to minimize the noise.
